丁基膠是鋁條式中空玻璃的首道密封，它是一種熱融性膠，具有很低的水汽透過率（在中空玻璃膠中很低）較高的粘性，是鋁條側(cè)面和玻璃之間擋水汽的很有效屏障，但它需由專用機(jī)器加熱、加壓、擠出涂布在鋁條兩側(cè)。

硅硐密封膠具有結(jié)構(gòu)性、耐老化性及抗紫外線性能，但它的致使弱點(diǎn)是水汽透過率高。故而硅硐膠適用于在光照強(qiáng)、環(huán)境差的地方，如玻璃幕墻等，同時必須使用丁基膠做一道密封。硅硐膠，在過去，我國長期依賴進(jìn)口，現(xiàn)經(jīng)貿(mào)委專門成立了硅硐膠領(lǐng)導(dǎo)小組，對結(jié)構(gòu)膠進(jìn)行安全認(rèn)證。目前國內(nèi)已有多家企業(yè)通過認(rèn)證。
